POLICY OBJECTIVE (S)

THE HIGH LEVEL DESIRED OUTCOME (S) RESULTING FROM THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE POLICY AND / OR THE REASONS WHY THIS OUTCOME (S) IS NECESSARY.

A product list defines the product strategy of an outlet.  This strategy needs to be adhered to.

POLICY

THE ACTION (S) THAT NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE AND / OR THE STANDARD THAT NEEDS TO BE ACHIEVED IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THE POLICY OBJECTIVES.

Ordering, receiving, merchandising and sales all need to be in accordance with what is defined in the product list.  Any product not on the products list must not be ordered, received, merchandised or sold from the outlet.

ABBREVIATIONS & DEFINITIONS

PRODUCT LISTINGA list of products that defines which products may be sold within an outlet. 
APPROVED PRODUCTA product that is authorised to be sold from the outlet.  Approved products include both core and discretionary products.

POLICY IMPLEMENTATION

PROCEDURES / ACTIVITIES / STEPS THAT NEED TO BE COMPLETED SEQUENTIALLY TO ACHIEVE THE POLICY OBJECTIVES.
THE POLICY IMPLEMENTATION FORMS THE BASIS FOR BUSINESS REVIEWS.

  1. On opening of the outlet the operator must insist on a product list and that it gets given in writing to the operator.
  2. The product listing must define the following:
    1. Products codes
    2. Product descriptions
    3. Product categories
    4. Product sub-categories
    5. Product Cost
    6. Product Case Size
    7. Product RSP
    8. Product GP%
  3. All staff must be trained on what is allowed to be ordered, received, merchandised or sold from the outlet
